Moon Dragons glow in the dark.

Four views of a blue and white moon dragon. The picture in the bottom right hand corner shows the dragon glowing in the dark.

Moon Dragons are closely related to Sun Dragons but have evolved for survival at night. These fascinating creatures are strongest when they are allowed to sleep in a well lit spot all day. During the day, the colors and patterns of a Moon Dragon’s scales can appear pale and simple. However, the true beauty of a Moon Dragon can only be seen in the dark.

A Moon Dragon’s scales glow in the dark as a way of scaring away larger predators, like Closet Monsters. The scales will need to “charge” under a bright light before they will glow. Brighter light will help them glow for a longer period of time.

[Moon Dragons have scales that are made with a combination of regular and glow-in-the-dark polymer clay. This technique allows you to see the scale pattern in the dark. Moon Dragon wings are made with a special technique to ensure that they glow in the dark as well.]
